OUR PROGRAM
Badlands Search & Rescue (BSAR) was established in 2018 after several years of incidents both on area waterways and in the rugged Badlands terrain of western North Dakota. It was apparent that there is a need for SAR disciplines and tactics in the area to respond and be available to an area with limited public safety resources amidst a population growth.
BSAR has grown since 2018 and is an active member of the National Association for Search & Rescue (NASAR) and utilizes the national association for it's foundation of education and certifications.
Our organization has members certified in search and rescue technician, unmanned aerial vehicle pilot, tracker, and is continuing to build our skill set as the organization grows and funding and time permits.
The goal is to have capabilities to respond to incidents in the region with the necessary knowledge, training, and equipment to successfully deploy and conduct our mission. It is also that which aims to educate the public on outdoor safety (Hug A Tree and Survive), survival, and preventative search & rescue education courses.
Our mission is threefold, prepare and always be ready, education, and assist public safety in SAR incidents.

SUPPORT SERVICES

EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Our efforts pertaining to this program involve preventative SAR, outdoor survival, and outdoor education. We are
developing innovative ways to implement them.
We recognize the need to conduct public outreach and
to prepare the public for the unexpected and hot to help
until emergency responders or SAR teams can arrive.
